Daily School Care

Throughout the day in our program, our educators will observe the following :

  • What toys and materials children are drawn to or choose to play with.
  • What imaginative play scenarios they engage in - both on their own and together with peers.
  • What games and activities the children participate in while outside on the playground.
  • What the children are talking about with their peers during snack/child choice play
  • What the children share during open-ended dialogue with peers and educators the children's strengths and areas of growth

Using the Emergent Curriculum, children will play an active role in their learning, and educators can use children's interests to create themes and projects. The educators will also have the opportunity to facilitate activities that foster the children's social-emotional, self-regulation, and problem-solving skills based on their observations

In our emergent curriculum, both educators and children have initiative and take decisions. The power to impact curriculum decisions and directions means that sometimes, the curriculum is also negotiated between what interests children and what the educator knows is necessary for children's overall development

Due to our program being based on the children's interests, program delivery are flexible, considering children's changing needs and interests.

Our program will also encourage creative and open-ended thinking by implementing structured time that allows the children to engage in child-choice play.

Due to our wide range of age groups, curriculum categories will vary according to the age group educators plan in such a manner that would also reflect individual program priorities.

Our classroom will also be intentionally set up with learning centers that focus on different discovery skills and will be set up in a manner that are accessible to all children. Our center will also allow the children the flexibility to work in large groups or individually in order to meet and address the children's different needs.

Our Emergent curriculum approach will be ensuring that:

  • Children's interests serve as the basis for program development
  • Expression of individual strengths is ensured
  • Unique learning needs are supported
  • Curriculum content is an extension of home/family life
  • Increased parental involvement is encouraged and
  • Diversity is celebrated in its fullest form
